Stringerless Sunday

This is a stringerless board made under the Randall label in Australia, 1968 or 1969...


Randall was located in Aspendale, Victoria...


What makes this board interesting isn't just that it's stringerless, but it's an example of the "Tracker" shape. Compared to the double ender V bottom roundtails that preceded them, Trackers had the wide point moved forward, the nose nose and tail pulled in, and the tails squared like a cut off pintail. They were, in effect, semi-gun hulls...


The Tracker outline was originally a product of the Victoria surf culture, made to suit thick, chunky waves. They came into use towards the end of the hull era, and stringerless versions were common...
