Saf


This is a board I shaped Richard Safady (pictured above) in November of 1993. I don't remember much about it other than it was designed from the ground up as an arm-paddled kneeboard. It had kind of a giant Velo outline. You can see the knee wells that were shaped into the deck, then further deepened with use...


What I remember most about this board is that Saf picked it up on Thanksgiving day of that year -- in Ventura -- and we drove down to Malibu since there were off-season south lines showing at C St. We ended up riding first point in a light rain with offshores, about 3 feet. Not too many people out.

The rare photo of Saf standing was taken by Peter Green at Lennox Head sometime in the 70's (pretty sure)
Peter moved to Oz from Torrance around that time and Saf spent a lot of time there....
