Hi Paul,

Happy New Year!

Just sharing this 7'2 Tony Masiel hull I recently got. The template is something I have not seen before with this slightly more pulled in nose, but I'm really enjoying the feeling the board provides.

Here's a short clip Shep filmed from a recent morning at Malibu showing the board in trim. Small wave with some NE wind on it - my favorite wave size and shape. I'm a goofy footer but have been working to ride switch the last year or so, preferring the feeling of hulls while facing the wave significantly more to going backside.

There's a photo of the Masiel next to an early 80's 7'2 Liddle that Tony most likely glassed; I just like the contrast of old and new. Tony took the photo of me holding the board at the glasser.

Wishing you a great 2024!

Hi Paul,

Old Yeller is incredible. The rails and foil are incredibly refined. The tail is so bladed out, unlike anything I’ve seen; comparing it other bladed out hulls on my racks, this is in its own league. It measures out at 8’10”, 12” tail, 21 1/2” at the wide point, 14 3/8” nose, 3 3/8” thick.

It’s wild to see it in person, after reading about it on Swaylocks and Displacementia over the years. The history of it has me stoked. It’ll have a permanent place on my racks, next to its more recently shaped likeness, and get put through its gears on the big days here.
