Joey was held in awe by some of us in the South Bay. Especially the younger more open-minded surfers. A woman who surfed and worked in surf shops! (I think she shaped a few boards at Jacobs, too). I always wished my surfing could flow like that. She had an inner strength and wave knowledge like Nuuhiwa. A humble and truly inspiring person!

Notice the black and white turn photo. BOTH feet on the right side of the stringer, fully committing the edge, but looking so casual! Most people would be grimacing trying to hold the g forces.
