I smiled to see these posts in conjunction with the "Fear of Missing Out" piece you put up on Surfmatters- It's obvious that one of the things you're doing with our imposed isolation is looking at this cam. :)

There's so many layers to what's happening now. Wonderful essays like the FOMO piece. I'm rejoicing reading those kinds of insights emerging in this time.

There's also literally squirming in frustration at the sight of Malibu peeling off. It's also some kind of justice.

It shows most people behaving responsibly, thinking of each others.

It shows a few people saying fuck you jack. I want mine.

It makes personal decisions glaringly public.

In these peelers I see us policing ourselves but also the Earth policing us: "Wise up, you can't live the way you have been. I'm going to take away your toys until you learn to behave".

(all that said, the thought of a night session crossed my reptile mind)

I was curious about the ban on surfing and whether people were still paddling out at Malibu at night as I used to do. I clicked on the cam two of these evenings and saw the tell tale glow sticks and trails of boards riding per usual. About a group of 6-8 spread out along first point. I wonder if they got ticketed?
