Hard to watch due to poor photography, but there are some revealing moments none-the-less.
There was a quick flash of a guy riding a Simmons board at Waikiki in the 1960 short subject, Surf Riders.
What's really neat is how, when the rider needs to make a slight adjustment, he uses the big toe of his rear foot. This, on a board over 10 feet long, and weighing 50 pounds!
And there's a shot of what appears to be the same guy hoisting a Simmons up on his shoulder at the start of the full length film...with no less than The Royal Hawaiian in the background.
